The 2008-09 academic year marks Mitzi Dusin's sixth year as an Associate Athletic Trainer at URI, where she will be working with the men's track & field teams. In 2004 she worked with the women's soccer and men's and women's track & field teams. In 2003 she worked with the women's volleyball and men's and women's track & field teams. Mitzi came to the University of Rhode Island after serving two years as the Head Athletic Trainer for St. Thomas University in Miami, Fla. Prior to her stint at STU, Mitzi was the Head Athletic Trainer at Warner Southern College in Lake Wales, Fla. for two years. While at STU and WSC, Mitzi worked very closely with all sports. Due to her love for baseball, she also served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Hays Larks, a summer collegiate baseball team, for three summers prior to moving to Florida. Mitzi's experience as an athletic trainer ranges from working with athletes at the high school level to athletes at the semi-professional level. She also has numerous experience working tournaments and summer camps. The Phillipsburg, Kan. native graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training and in 1997 with a Master of Science Degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Science. While at FHSU, Mitzi worked closely with the baseball, football, and basketball teams as a student athletic trainer and competed on the tennis team for one year. Mitzi is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Licensed Athletic Trainer in Florida, and a Certified Instructor with the American Red Cross. updated: 6/4/08 |
